AG BIZ Planner Workshop offered through Clemson

Writing a Business Plan

Many of us have used a map or GPS to help us find our way to a destination.  Maybe it was from home to the beach or from our last sprayer pass to the next.

A written business plan serves as a map or GPS for your business.  It lays out your starting point, the tools and methods of travel, and identifies your destination.  Beginning in May 2013, you have the opportunity to develop a roadmap for your business via AgBiz Planner, AgPlan and the Agri-Business Management Association.

AgBiz Planner is a 10 module e-learning tool that takes you step by step through the process of building a business plan.  AG Plan is a web based software tool that allows you to draft, review and publish your business plan.  The Agri-Business Management Association has many resources available to supplement these tools and help you complete the business plan over the next 8 months.

Of course there is a cost for the process, but I guarantee the result will be “priceless.”

You won’t be alone in the process of writing your business plan. We will have a kickoff webinar to let you meet the other participants in the program, followed by monthly webinars to help you stay on task.  As we near completion of the process you will be registered for two additional learning workshops:

  1. 30th Annual SE Ag Lenders Schools – “Big Event.”  To be held on the campus of Clemson University, November 20-21, the conference will include national renown speakers looking at the future risks and opportunities in agriculture.
  2. 15th Annual Executive Marketing seminar.  To be held at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort, January 7-9, 2014.  At this seminar, you will write your 2014 commodity marketing plan for your operation.

Attendance at  these 2 seminars is optional,  but will offer an additional day of learning to discuss your personal business plan and discuss how to put it in action for the coming year.

Information regarding the Cost and Registration for the workshop can be found at:

The Ag Biz Planner eLearning Curriculum Participant Information Booklet can be found at:

I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to “find your way!” You are welcome to share this information with others who might benefit from a written business plan. If you are  interested, please complete the Registration form and return it to me by May 10th.  If you have any questions, please contact me.
